France Forum - Here you will find a variety of topics concerning France and French lifestyle being discussed, with new messages being posted all the time. Apart from general topics in the general discussion section of the forum, there are forums for discussing property purchase and renovation, finance, leisure and pastimes, education in France, passports for pets, French culture, food and wine, legal aspects, satellite television, internet and telephones, gîtes, holidays, learning the language, travelling to France and health. Phew!

The forum is an open discussion board for Francophiles. Please be aware that it is a message board which from time to time is visited by hoaxers and those not necessarily interested in discussing France and French lifestyle. If you encounter users who you feel are abusing the message boards, please do not respond to them. These users are only encouraged when their messages provoke a response, so the best thing you can do is ignore them.

By submitting your contribution for publication you agree to grant Archant a perpetual and royalty-free licence to use, in any form or way whatsoever, that contribution worldwide in any form of media. In order to be a responsible member of the online community you must adhere to the following terms and conditions. Anyone who doesn’t feel they can abide by these guidelines should not sign up to them. If users are found to be breaching these guidelines once they have joined, they will be issued with one warning or banned immediately depending on the severity of their breach. Previously banned members who post again under a different alias will be deleted without further warnings. Comments or questions regarding the general administration of the forum should be made by "private message" or using the "report" button to the moderators or direct to Forum Admin. Such comments or questions should not be posted in the open forum.

-Please choose your words carefully when posting a message. It is diffucult to obtain the tone of written messages unlike when speaking to someone.
-Please keep to the topic of the original thread. This will help users to locate the information that they are looking for and will save space on the servers.
-There is to be no 'naming and shaming' on the site. If you have any complaints about particular individuals/companies then contact the relevant parties or authorities.
-Please DO NOT post messages that are insulting, abusive, racist, sexist, or derogatory in any way to others, whether they are individuals or companies, users of the Forum or not. This includes material sent via personal e-mails through this forum.
-Please DO NOT post messages that threaten, intimidate, victimise or harass others.
-Please DO NOT make libelous comments about individuals or companies, including Archant magazines.
-Please DO NOT post messages that contain explicit language or vulgarities (whether written in French, English or any other language)

FAQs

Do I need to join the France Forum?

The France forum is free to use. "Guest" access is allowed so you can view most sections within the forum before joining, but in order to post a message or reply, you will need to join.

If you decide to join us, all that is required is for you to enter your email address, username and password. You will then be able to log in to the forum, start your own discussion threads or reply to any otf the discussions already started.

Are there Rules for Using the France Forum?

Like all forums we have rules and regulations in the form of a code of conduct. You will need to read and agree to these before participating. Remember never to give out personal information in a public area as anyone, anywhere will be reading what you have posted.

Once joined, how do I post a topic or message in the forum?

Within each of the sections is a list of the forums, click on one of the forum sections. You should now see a screen with a list of "Topics" (with the most recent topics at the top). Who started the topic, the number of replies, number of views and who posted the last reply.

If you would like to add a NEW topic, click on the "post" button at the top left and you can then compile a message.

There are two ways to reply to an existing message. If you would like to add a reply to a current topic go into the topic that you would like to reply to and click on the "Reply" button and you can then compile a message.  Your reply will appear at the end of the other replies.

If you would like to ‘quote’ a previous reply click the blue "Quote" button next to their reply and this will quote their message and it will take you through to compile a message.
If you have posted a topic or reply you can edit it AFTER you have posted by clicking the Edit button next to your post/reply. With replies you will also have the option of deleting it.

Compiling a message:

You will see a compilation screen, and depending on your browser a WYSYWYG editor, at the bottom a choice between design or HTML, most users will use 'design' and this is the default setting.

Subject: Enter the subject of your post here (this line will already be filled if you are replying to a post)

Message: Enter your message here. If you are quoting within a reply the quote will show up within 'Quote' tags and can be edited if you want to only quote part of their message.

Click "Post" - to put your post live.

Preview – you can check the look of your post before posting it onto the forum.
